I'm not there yet, and that's okay

Monday, December 24

If someone came up to me and asked me what my motto was in life, this would be it. Not exactly the standard motto, I know, but it's something that I've been trying to keep in mind at all times.

As we're closer and closer to venturing into the new year, I've come to realise what's been constantly holding me back from some of the things I wanted to achieve this past year. The impatience I brought onto myself, and just simply letting the classic excuse of "I don't have the time", combined with the chronic fear that "it won't turn out good anyway" get into my head. I'm generally a very patient person, but when it comes to myself, patience becomes a completely foreign concept. I find it so easy to just want change to happen instantly. But that's not how change works.

Change takes time, and effort, and planning ahead of time. It's small steps and just taking some time from our day to focus on that one thing. It doesn't have to take over our lives every second of the day; for me, it's more of a slowly, but surely, I will see the positive effects of the change - but first, I must put in the work and see it through. And keeping in mind that even though I'm not there yet - a completely cleared bedroom, running a distance of 3ks every morning, and while we're here, a good student with no withdrawals for procrastination and caffeine - but you know what? I'm doing okay where I am. It's so important to actually acknowledge this and not focus too much of our time on what we're not and what we want to be, to the point that it discourages us to do anything about it. Thus my new year's resolution: Always appreciate and focus on the present me. I may not be where I want to be yet, but here is just fine.

I recently met a "Fung Shui" Master, he said I will not make it big and money will just be floating above me, and it is not for me to grab ! But that's OK, at almost 50, I am happy as a teacher without that big money ! ..... Money, Big House, Big Car, A Career of High Position that others envy, be able to travel and spent luxuriously, I suppose that is what everybody wants !
