cairns part 1

Thursday, March 7

Went on a train ride during our first morning in Cairns. The railway had such a great history well over a hundred years behind it, I quickly learned that it was one of the busiest stations during the Second World War! Being a lover of the old and quaint, I am such a sucker when it comes to history and the documented pieces of the past. Our past. There is truly something special about being on the same path as those some hundred years ago. We were off to a great start, that's for sure.

Gorgeous pictures!
I love to learn about places that I'm visiting - it makes it so much more interesting to me than just rushing around to see everything. I like to soak up the history and the atmosphere.

Looks so good. I might be off to Cairns later this year, so I'm going to pay close attention to what you get up to! x

Australia has always appealed to me. The country has such vast lands, beautiful beaches and vibrant cities. I forgot about the many pearls it must have like Cairns! This old station looks so quaint. I love the old newspapers on the walls. One day I hope to land my feet on Australian soil, but until then I'll have to live vicariously through your photos... x
